What does biodegradable plastic mean?

Biodegradable plastic refers to the end-of-life, meaning that the material can break down under specific conditions (temperature, pressure, microorganisms, water, oxygen) and a period of time, sometimes decades. An type of biodegradable plastics are compostable plastics (see explanation below).
